They tried to cheat me and did to an extent. I paid $90 for an inspection that included telling me I have rust on my truck as if I couldn't see it. They didn't even fix the squeaking coming from my serpentine belt or the vacuum leak. They tried to tell me I needed new rear brakes which was a flat out lie. I recently replaced my parking brake and I looked at my rear brakes. They don't need replacing. They walked back that comment. They told me my air pump needs replacing but I installed that air pump myself. The reason it went bad was because an engine check valve went bad. So they're going to replace the air pump without figuring out why it went bad? The mechanic said he hadn't "dug that into it". The air pump doesn't even need replacing. They also went snooping around in my truck camper shell. I know because I have a curtain in the rear window which can't be moved without forcing a wire free and it was unhinged. They basically did nothing and kept my truck in their garage for about 2 hours so they could charge me more. I took my truck to Will's in Spencer. Turns out my alternator was making the squeaking. I bought a new one, a new serpentine belt and tensioner. Will charged me $90 and they only took about 30 minutes. Advanced Auto Care are a bunch of crooks and liars. Anybody that says different doesn't know about engines.
Ultimino, As the owner of Advanced Auto Care I take personal offense to the notion that we ever knowingly lie or cheat a customer. Our 22 year history exemplifies our great service. Our terrific customers (well over 125) have publicly touted us with a 5 star google review. A claim that we would rip off or mislead customers is offensive to us and the customers that reviewed us. Claiming stupidity of these customers is shameful. We saw your vehicle on 11/20. That was 11 business days ago. You also set a follow up appointment. We never got a complaint during your wait or cancelation of the follow up. We are happy address your concerns. I personally welcome a conversation with you. Your initial complaints were, " The RPM's surge and drop during Idle. There is a noise when running and extended cranking after sitting. Customer would like to determine if the truck is worth putting money into or should he simply buy a new truck". We found several fault codes (P0146 "O2 sensor not responding", P0327 Knock Sensor, P0410 Air Injection Pump, and P0507 Idle air Control Motor"). We also noted that the vehicle has numerous leaks. I'd also like to address each specific claim. 1: Rust was noted to speak directly to your question of putting money in the truck or not. We see vehicles regularly that are being destroyed by rust faster than mechanical problems are killing their vehicle. No offense is intended. 2: We did not fix the belt because you did not ask us to fix anything. You asked us to evaluate your truck. We did that. Your follow up was to actually fix things. Had you expressed concern at the time of canceling, we would have tried hard to ensure satisfaction. 3: We noted on your inspection that your rear brakes are "nearing end of life" and there was rusting and pitting on your rotors. Nearing does not mean at end of life. This was intended to inform, not to scare. If you had just replaced your parking brakes or cable, you would have seen this. These claims came with a picture. 4: We told you that since there was a P0410 Air Injection pump code present, it COULD be the air pump. We planned to look deeper during the follow up but had several areas to look at during our initial limited time appointment. The technician that was inspecting your car has 29-30 years of experience. He is an ASE Master Tech, was Honda Gold certified, owned and operated his own successful business, and graduated from WyoTech. He is more than qualified to diagnose a problem, given the right amount of time. He had not done enough diagnosis to come to any conclusion with certainty. We had made a plan (with you) to look deeper into this during your follow up appointment. 5: They went snooping around in my truck. This sentence is especially offensive and possibly slanderous. There is, and has NEVER been a time that anyone that works for Advanced Auto Care needlessly looks through a customers private belongings. I have every faith and trust in my employees and cannot express enough concern over a charge like this. 6: We spent 2 hours looking over several areas of concern. That time and information was what you paid for. You also had a lengthy conversation with my technician. No concerns were ever raised. I believe we did an adequate job of addressing your concerns. As stated, I would be more than happy to talk with you about this anytime.
