Took my car to Advanced because it wouldn’t start. Guy had a look at it on the lot, said he couldn’t see under the car as I asked them to look at my bad sway bar as well. Told me the starter was turning over slowly. Needed a new starter, $500. Had the car towed to Flextune,they called me at noon the next day saying they had started the car after cleaning the battery terminals and charging my battery. $75 labor.
Ryan, we certainly apologize that you feel you had a bad experience. While we have highly trained and experienced technicians, we are not without potential fault. Your vehicle did crank very slowly with additional power from a jump box and we did not see enough corrosion on your battery to cause such a slow start. That is what led us to our estimate. Although $500 seems expensive, over 80% of that was the cost of the part. We understand you were frustrated that we do not install customer supplied parts but we feel that our 24 month / 24,000 mile warranty is worth the additional cost of using parts from our trusted suppliers. We work hard to make our customers happy and would welcome direct feedback at 812-330-1620. We would be willing to refund any cost of the visit but no money actually exchanged hands.
